Yes, the pedal is not muddy and has a really rich full guitar tone to it. I do not have a bright cap on it though as it does not need it and the otuput is fine the way it is.

since I'm not familiar with the fuzz ace (not many of those in norway), I'll comment on the FFs, esp. how to improve them. a great trick to get them more stable and tunable is to have an external bias control as well as adding germanium diodes to the transistors so that they do not react so much to temperature changes

yes, I didn't mean to derail this one. you'll find a lot of info about FFs posted online but the germanium diode trick is a well-kept secret.

the picture would seem to imply that it was and that he liked it enough to picture it, but I don't know if that is actually true(quick google wasn't successful in turning anything up). The guitarist's name fwiw is Kazuhide Yamaji(1st name, last name).

BTW Brian, is the sound on the youtube clip one that you know as a Fuzz Ace or not? (I suppose I may have mistakenly jumped to the conclusion that it was a Fuzz Ace and was curious if that was "the sound".)

That could very well be a Fuzz Ace but of course recording magic has been slapped on this and made it a bit different.
