a Fuzz Ace, that is.

"maintains a gainy fuzz sound while conjuring up flashbacks of a good vintage fuzz. Reacts well to volume and picking changes and transmits all the player-created nuances directly"

9800 yen (times 1.05 to incl. 5% consumption tax) = 10 290 Japanese yen = 114.59973 U.S. dollars

Your link is for an SG.

I wonder if the Fuzz Ace is a popular item in Japan?

yeah, I think the links change when items are sold.

could be. Not that many made, right? So, could be the thinking is to "buy it ASAP" before someone else nabs it. Also, it was priced at around 10,000 yen (roughly 100 bucks), and I'd say that is a pretty good price for a "boutique fuzz". Not too cheap but not on the really expensive side either (Fulltone are pricier and Landgraff even more so).

Not too many were made but almost all of them were sent to Japan through Garret Park Guitars.
