Cost is an issue but the bottom line is, if you don't have all the info and just give numbers to the winder, they are going to wind it as they see fit. Giving them a wattage rating, primary Z and DRC values will only get you part way there.

hey Neil was all that so far good enough for you as an answer?

thx again for the additional comments Brian. Interesting in that it sparks a couple of thoughts. How complicated it apparently is and also wonder how some of the instances I see where someone obtains a transformer number and gets some units made from the same manf. expecting to get the same exact thing (perhaps they might be not be? ).

neil, if you search this guy's posts (member "CJ"), you can see some more of the apparent specifics (no. of turns, gauge of wire, DCR) going into winding a transformer (example thread) :

Hi Neil yes I come by now and then but you know where you can reach me.

That amp sounds great. I haven't had any reason to pull the chassis and get pics.

I'm rather intrigued by this OT, caught wind of it over on the Metro forum.
As of that last posting, are these still available?

Thanks Brian, I'll have to go to your site for ordering/shipping info etc.
I've got a Drake, but this seems too cool to pass up. (new build)

Edit:
Funds sent, looking forward to hearing this beast!
Any new input Alex?

Got the OT today, thanks for the fast shipping! 8)

Zany question number one:
Are the wires color coded the same as your 784-139 offering? Looking at your wiring diagrams I'm *assuming* they are.
Thanks!

Do you still have any of these? And what would lead me to pick this for a 50 watt build, over your 784-139 offering? Sorry for the question that may not have a definitive answer, but I'm curious. :D

Thanks Brian!

Yes, I have some of these left in stock.

This OT will impart more of a 100W tone to the 50W set up, of course it won't turn your 50W into a 100W amp but if this is a tone you are looking for then this is the OT you want.

I'm still trying to figure out what I want tone wise. And yes I dig EVH's tone. I know typically 100watters seem to have more low end thump to them, but other than that, I'm not familiar with any other tone differences. I've never actually heard a 50 watt plexi, but I want to build one, see what it sounds like and go from there. I currently gig with a Matchless Clubman, and thought the Plexi would make a nice dirty amp, and run the Clubman clean.

Hi Brian, I know this is an old thread, I just came across it. Is this transformer available? One of these would be great on your upcoming 50 watt chassis. I can send funds for immediately. Cheers
