Brians favorite 50W

Postby ReidarNikolai » Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:51 am

Hi all

A long time ago I asked Brian which 50W was his favorite. He pointed me to this; http://marstran.com/68%2010513.htm. which he happens to own.
Anyway; I remembered Michael Doyle stating that the 68-69 50w was also his personal favorite so I decided to give it a try..
Here it is; Marstran chassis, trannies and choke. Sparky front. Valvestorm rear. Brian H. board. Mojo cab - I think. All new components..
It's a truly cool amp that have much gain on tap - but sounds great. It's wide open on all controls and this is the first amp I've owned which sounds best that way.
BTW I forgot to install the bright cap and made a bias circuit with a pot - apart from that it should be a faithfull replica of Brians amp.

Thanks for hooking me up with this amp Brian 8)

Any suggestions?
Right now it's a reissue Mullard in V1 and TAD 7025HG in V2 and V3.
I have Raytheons, RFT, Telefunken, RCA, Brimar, Mullard and Sylvanias that are old.
Don't really know what would fit where.
It would be nice to tame the amp a bit - but not too much

Power tubes are new winged C's - but I have some NOS teslas and mullards
