hey David. Not 100% sure, but I'd say yes. Maybe the most common(guessing)? I've got one of those if I've got the mental match correct. Also there is another one with a bit less stumpy of a bottle(I think older?) and the CV4004 one with half-flange anode(i.e. wing sticking out only on one side of the plate like a lot of 12AT7s). My bet is most Marshall enthusiasts would be quite happy with a bunch of those in their tube arsenal(I only have the one used and worn looking one but it seems quality in sound and microphony).
Hey David- On the first one, I think the complete code is actually "1K8/1574", and that's late 1968. Per the GEC thread below (near the latest end), I think the "1K8" is "week/month/year", and the four digit number indicates specific type (more specific than just "12AX7"). "1574" seems to be specific to the standard short ladder plate version of the '60s like these. Would you call them bright (in a good way)?
Thanks for pointing me to the thread, right under my nose the whole time. OK so the first example would be 1st week November 1968 unless a letter is skipped? I'm hoping a better picture of the other Brimar that has some print intact will aid in deciphering it's DOB. I haven't had the opportunity to try them yet but I bet they will be just the ticket in a recently built JTM50 clone as its a bit dark sounding plus Brian digs em best in his 66
