Cool thread, this caught my eye.

Incidentally, you can greatly stabilise gm over time by operating at a slightly reduce heater voltage.

I figured the tube would last longer but didn't know this also helps to stabile the thing...

I suppose that would make sense for something like a mic (where presumably you'd typically want long-term consistency).

(p.s. for a bit more modern production tube info, check out some of stan("km6xz")'s posts on MEF. He seems to have a lot of firsthand info about the current Russian, Chinese, etc. tube situation. Apparently he is an American with a gear repair business in Russia. : )

hmm...you're right. (I thought maybe it had something to do with my noscript settings, but allowing more stuff didn't return results either (comes back, "sorry, no results")..strange). Using google to search the site (using stan's user name "km6xz") seems to work (you can try adding additional terms such as GZ34 (he apparently had a hand in taking specs for the old Sovtec version of the GZ34/5AR4), etc.
